China had looked set to become the worlds biggest exporter but is facing lots of issues. China’s exporting had remained less than Germany by 13% in the ending months of 2008 and in December China was 3% lower than Germany but gained a raise of 10%. In the 4th quarter, China’s trade surplus rose to a record of $457 billion at the annual rate and in the same period as 2007 it was 50% less. China’s trade surplus fell down by 21% in the first few months of 2008 and luckily because of the global credit freeze the exports and imports quickly got raised. But unfortunately imports were also dragged down because of the oil that has been made cheaper and also commodity prices. China’s domestic demand is also something that needs to be worked on because there domestic demand is just too weak compared to the other countries. The construction is not going so well however consumer spending and investments working on manufacturing have been going very well. There have been lots of exports and job losses in the southern part of China which then have made speculation that there is a possibility that the government might bring down the value of yuan. There are some good things about the trade surplus in China and is that the total amount of bank loans have been raised by 15 and 14% last summer. China is also perhaps the only large economy where credit has been boosted in the recent months and if this is sustained it would help China advance domestic spending.
I think that this is causing a extremely big problem for China because the surplus is very important and is also part of the big mess in the world. I also think that China should have a better trade surplus because it would make exporting and importing way easier for China. What I think towards this subject is that if it where to be better I think that more people won’t have to be worried of losing a job.

On my extremely, fun-filling, enjoyable and super active Christmas and New Years holiday I spent my time in Hong Kong with my family. My mum and dad still had to go to work so I stayed at home playing with my friends or doing wonderful activities. The activities that I participated in was rugby, swimming, mandarin and guitar lessons.
During the Christmas holidays I had two Christmas parties one after the other. One of the the parties was held at my amazingly decorated house on Christmas Eve. The party was like a rampage of stampeding buffalo’s and around thirty people came. Everyone at my party, from children to friends enjoyed it very much and after that one of my friends and his brother even had a sleepover. The other party was held at my neighbours house but I was the only child there. For Christmas I got four unlikely things that I thought I would get. I got an alarm clock that uses a gun to stop the alarm from ringing, a water gun and a cinema gift card to buy things at the cinema. My favorite Christmas gift was a Google phone that was over four thousand dollars!
On New Years Eve I went to the Siena Club with my friends and firstly, there was a buffet with a barbecue outdoor even though it was so cold they managed to use it. At the Siena club party there was a lucky draw and luckily I won two towels for Disney. We had a bingo time but this year I did not win anything and I was really close to winning. After that there was a magician who showed us fantastic tricks. Later the magician told us to put our hands into four boxes and the last one was always a surprise but I didn’t get chosen to pick out of the four boxes. The first surprise was a fake rubber snake, the second surprise was a fake rubber centipede. The third surprise was a fake iguana and the last one was three real swamp coloured toads that where seemingly harmless. Then we had a limbo rock which lasted until the countdown. Then from midnight we danced in a disco until one o’clock. My New Years Resolution is to eat more carrots.

Battery Cars
When my group, The Funky Monkeys rode on the battery cars that went all around Yangshuo, I saw the amazing view that inspired me to take more than two hundred and ten photos in less than thirty minutes! I was so interested in the landscape of Yangshuo that I even took pictures of concrete brick walls and grass fields covered in dirt. Two of the most interesting photos that I captured was a tent floating on top of a river stream and a few mountains that look like they were from the Doctor Seuss series. One of my pictures was a really wonderful picture of a fake butterfly on a wall and I was awarded five Funky Monkey points for it. All the people on the same battery car that I was on, were annoyed because whenever I found something interesting to take a picture of, I shouted what that was. When I looked back at my pictures most of my pictures were ridiculous ones. I liked the battery cars a lot because I thought taking so much pictures was really fun. I also thought that it was fun because I really enjoyed the fantastic view and the cool breeze of the wind. I don’t think the people in my group enjoyed it very much because of my non-stop yammering.
Moon Hill
When we hiked up Moon Hill I counted alll the steps to get to the top and there were eight hundred and seventy three of them. All of the Y6′s HAD to climb to the top of Moon Hill and there was no turning backs. Without any shortcuts it took around twenty minutes to hike up Moon hill. Mr. Loran, who was leading the way was always at the front and nobody was allowed to pass him but could chase after him the whole time. Mr. McLaughlin, the slowest onewas at the end of thye line and no one was allwed to go behind him. At the bottom of Moon Hill I had made a great start following the group chasing Mr. Loran. But at the end I started to wear out and ended around the middle of the group of teachers and Y6′s. The first boy to get to the top of Moon Hill, but not including the Y6 teachers, was Andreas. The first girl to get to the top of Moon Hill was Allissa. The whole time I was walking and running up the steps of Moon Hill with Aaron Ng who is a good friend of mine. I thought the hike up Moon Hill was fun because it was good training and I could talk to my friends unlike school when the only time you could talk was at break and lunch. The only thing that I would want the people that supervise Moon Hill would be to add an escalator somewhere in the hike.

The Hoping School
The Hoping school is a very poor school which has only desks and chairs with no technology, whereas DBIS has all types of technology to use, from calculators to Apple computers. Before we went back to the hotel after eating lunch we stayed at the Hoping swchool for about an hour. All of us just ran to a Hoping school student, give the present to them and run off to play. I lent Gabe half of my presents to give to the Hoping school because he lost his presents on the way to Guilin. Fifteen minutes of that one hour was used up singing songs to each other, but the challenge of that was that when we talked English the Hoping school students suddenly burst out with laughter. The rest of the forty five minutes, was spent on playing basketball with the Hoping school students and some of my friends. I think that there are probably worse schools in Guilin than this one. I had a lot nof fun at the Hoping school because I enjoyed playing basketball and handing out the present that I bought.

Kung Fu at the Paradesa Hotel
On Thursday morning at 6:30am there was a Kung Fu lesson held by three martial artists. Originally the Kung Fu lesson was meant to be on Tuesday at 7:30pm but because of the timing it got switched with the Tai Chi lesson. The martial artists taught us the five fist skill (or something like that) which had 11 steps to follow and a lot of hard warm up exercises before them. The warm up exercises had a lot of streching that some people could not do. More than 75% of the Y6′s thought that the Kung Fu was more enjoyable than the Tai Chi because there was more action to it. A lot of the people could do the five fist skill technique and others struggled with it. I thought the Kung Fu was really fun, despite the fact that I was good at it because I could do all the steps and the warm up exercises.

Now I put my tooth in my tooth collection and this tooth was my 12th tooth since I was born to now that has came out. I pullled it out when I was watching TV last night. I had to pull my tooth out because a new tooth was coming out from the side. During this week (starting from last Tuesday) I have pulled out two teeth.

Halloween is an created event created by the western world of the Earth. The history of Halloween has started from the ancient Celtic celebration and is known as the Samhain festival. The Samhain festival celebrates the ending of the harvestseason (Autumn) in the culture of Gaelic. As a tradition, thye festival was one of the times when the ancient Celtic pagans would stock on food and livestock for winter storage. The old ancient Gaelshave believed that the Samhain festival (Halloween) is the boundary when living and the dead become dangerous for the living by destroying crops and making people sick. People dress up as scary things to pretend to be the evil spirits.
3 days ago it was Halloween and I went to the headlands to go trick or treating. I dressed up as a Beijing Olympic fan with a knife in his head. I will definitely scare the lives out of the other trick or treaters. At 6:00 I met my friends at seven eleven walked to the headlands to trick or treat. That night I collected a lot of candy but got pickpocketed by other people. I could not stay so late because I had a ESF test on the next day.
Please share what you wore that night by commenting on my blog. Hope you enjoyed your trick or treating!!
